a recent book that i read, "internet marketing secrets revealed" is somewhat relevant to this topic. maybe web 2.0 is a marketing strategy, maybe not..its difficult to say. but many people today are relegating their businesses to the web all over the world.

Jay,

If you look at web 2.0 as part of a marketing strategy and a key element of that strategy is to become more in tune with customer needs then I’d have to say the place to start would be to facilitate user generated content. The best way to do this (at least for someone starting out) is to develop a Blog. Corporate Blogging is becoming a marketing strategy staple, allowing a company to post relevant information and garner valuable customer feedback for their efforts.

PS - it’s Larry not sure who Mike is :)

Mike,
Thanks for this excellent explanation and survey of web 2.0!

Your point about giving people too many choices is well taken. Once business owners do learn about web 2.0, then should not try to use every trick in the book, thereby confusing consumers.

If a business wants to start dipping their toe in the 2.0 water, where would you suggest they start?
